Farha Azaz has been a Johnson County resident for 16 years, and greater Kansas City area for over two decades. Her experiences in raising her three children, working as an Information Technology professional, and community organizing all motivated her to run for JCCC Trustee in the 2019 election year, because she recognizes the importance of education in strengthening a community that uplifts every resident. She crossed oceans in the pursuit of higher education.
After receiving her Master's degree in Computer Science from University of Memphis, TN, Farha worked for over two decades in the Information Technology industry, with focus on healthcare. Her career fostered an understanding of the importance of STEM education for future generations. However, understanding literature, math, computer science, or other STEM subjects isn't the only road to success, nor can they create well-rounded members of the community without a healthy understanding of the arts and humanities.
A community of well-rounded individuals is crucial to advancing and supporting its members as a whole is her belief. Her community engagement as a Girl Scouts Troop Leader, Advisory Board of a Youth Group, Co-Leader of Food drives in Greater KC area and commitment to Interfaith alliances/activities with multiple faith groups exemplifies her interests to promote community wellbeing. Yet bringing together a community involves the support of residents young, old, and everywhere in between. Farha's belief in unity and giving back to community members is her motivation to run for office for Board of Trustees for JCCC.
This commitment to civic leadership, as well as an understanding of what residents need, is what Farha's campaign is all about. As JCCC Trustee, Farha wants to ensure that the most affordable educational institution represents all of the faces of Johnson County, and that includes you.
